Eng. Muammar Khaled Al Katheeri

Executive Vice President, Engineering Management & Smart City, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority

Eng. Muammar joined Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) in April 2006 as the Director of Planning and Construction Management Department; enriching DSOA with his wide knowledge and experience in Construction and Project Management. In two years time, Eng. Muammar proved to be an important asset for DSOA, where he was appointed as the Chief Planning and Construction Officer.
In 2010, DSOA saw the need to merge Planning & Constructions Department along with Operations & facilities under one leadership. Based on this decision, Eng. Muammar was appointed as Executive VP of Engineering Management. In 2014 Eng. Muammar was appointed as the Chairman of the Smart City project committee in Dubai Silicon Oasis.
Prior to joining DSOA, Eng. Muammar served with major real estate companies in the UAE, amongst Emirates Real Estate Corp. as the Projects and Maintenance Director, where he worked on major projects including: Ministries complex project AUH, Ministry of Education DXB, Ministry of Public works DXB, Ministry of Labor DXB, UAE Embassy in Germany, UAE Consulate in Munich, UAE Embassy in Australia, and many other prestigious projects. Eng. Muammar also served as a Design Engineer at the Ministry of Public Works in Dubai, and as a project Design Manager at ETISALAT and a partner at a local design Consultancy office.
Eng. Muammar holds a Master of Science in Innovation & Change Management from Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University in Dubai and holds a Bachelor degree in Architectural Engineering from Al Ain University; United Arab Emirates.

Fatmah Al Hantoubi

Lead Officer, Transportation Mobility and Deputy Project Manager for the Abu Dhabi LEV Programme, Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport

Fatmah is the Lead Officer within the Transportation Mobility Management (TMM) Section at the Department of Municipal affairs & Transport (DMAT). She has over 8 years of experience working in the industry, and holds Bachelor Degree and a MBA from UAE University.


Fatmah’s main responsibilities include the development and implementation of sustainable travel measures and solutions that help to reduce congestion and improve mobility within the Emirate.


Fatmah is also the deputy project manager for the Abu Dhabi Low Emission Vehicle Strategy and implementation programme, where she leads a number of key initiatives that are aimed at increasing the uptake of low emission vehicles.

Stephen Severance

Head of Program Management and Marketing, Masdar City

Mr. Severance has twenty years experience in project and program management, strategy consulting, financial analysis, and economic development. As the Head of Program Management and Investments for Masdar City, he is leading the development of the $16B sustainable real estate development’s business planning and investment analysis, organizational development, and program controls. He led the development of tools, processes, and communication used to execute the program. As an engagement manager with Booz & Company he led teams for senior level clients of major projects in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, supporting the development of operating models, governance, organization, processes, and tools required to improve the success of these projects. Mr. Severance has also led project teams in growth strategy, cost-reduction, and economic analysis

Abrar Nasser Yousuf Aljaroodi

Engineer, IEC Electrical Testing Standards, Dubai Municipality

Abrar Nasser Yousuf Aljaroodi, represents Dubai Municipality as a young Engineer working on IEC Electrical Testing Standards with Dubai Central Laboratory (IECEE Recognized CBTL). She graduated as Telecommunication Engineer in 2015 and concluded Post Graduation in Business in 2017 from Canadian University Dubai. 

Abrar is currently involved in the Innovation Team, CSR (Cooperative Social Responsibility) Team and Amman Team for Operational Safety. Major projects she has worked in include:

- Interruption with Frequency Modulation.

- Demonstration of EE for Television & Refrigerators.

Edoardo Gianotti

Vehicle Regulations and Transport Innovations Section , UNECE Sustainable Transport Division

Previous working experience includes work in the private automotive sector in the area of international regulatory work.
Since 2006 he has been a staff member of the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (UNECE/WP.29) within the "Vehicle Regulations and Transport Innovations Section " of the UNECE Transport Division, working primarily  as Secretary of the Working Parties on Passive Safety (GRSP), Vehicle Noise (GRB), Lighting and Light-signalling (GRE) and General Safety (GRSG) of UNECE/WP.29. Special interest in Intelligent Vehicle Systems.

 

Portvik Sture

Project leader for Electrical Vehicles for The City of Oslo, Agency for Urban Environment. Master in political science and a bachelor in economics and communication. Specialization: Economic policy in East Asia.

Previous positions: Head of Communications at the Munch Museum, Deputy Manager Art and Culture, Manager Sponsorships Arts and Sports, Advisor Tourism and Business Development, Advisor, Korea Trade- and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

Akin Adamson

Former Regional Director, Middle East, TRL

Akin Adamson is TRL’s (Transport Research Laboratory’s) Former Regional Director for the Middle East, providing world leading Transportation Research and Consultancy to Public and Private sector organisations. He has extensive advisory and research experience across multiple industries including Transportation, ICT and Energy. Akin works across the full range of TRL’s capabilities covering Road Safety, Transportation, Infrastructure, Sustainability and Testing & Assurance. He is the focal point for all projects in the Middle East region, spanning research, policy development, strategy formulation, solution implementation and performance measurement. Previously he was a Global Head of Consulting at Nokia Siemens Networks and a Director at Telstra in Australia. He began his consulting career at A.T. Kearney in the UK and Australia, focusing on the Transportation and Automotive sectors. He began his research career at London Business School in the Energy Sector and has lectured at both London Business School and the London School of Economics. He holds both UK and Australian citizenship, is based in Doha, Qatar but travels extensively throughout the Middle East region. He was educated at LSE, LBS and the University of Michigan, USA.

Martin Tillman

Director – Transport Planning, AECOM

Martin Tillman is Director at international engineering consultancy Aecom leading Strategic Planning and Advisory for the UAE and Oman.   He leads the disciplines of transport modelling, planning, transport technology, road safety, parking and freight.

Martin has lived and worked in the UAE for nine years, beginning with the management of the policy and planning work on the Abu Dhabi Surface Transport Master Plan for the Department of Transport.  Previously, Martin worked in the UK, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, and Qatar.

He is currently working on Emirate and city wide master planning projects as well as providing advice for large scale development projects in the region.

Martin enjoys the challenge of providing innovative and value added advice for clients and consulting with stakeholders.  His key aims are to encourage sustainability, future proof concepts through appropriate measures, and to deliver a successful outcome.

Martin is a Fellow of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and the Institute of Highways and Transportation.

Ayman Ramadan

Faculty,ETS(Mech/Mechatronics), Dept of Mechatronics Engineering Division, Higher Colleges of Technology

(Ayman Ramadan) is a lecturer at the Higher Colleges of Technology-UAE with responsibility for teaching mechanical engineering and renewable energy courses in the bachelor degree level. In addition, he serves as a knowledge body expert in occupational health and safety  for HCT.

Prior to joining HCT, Ayman worked in the Institute of Applied Technology -UAE  as automotive engineering curriculum specialist. Prior to that ; he worked as a senior lecturer in transport applied technology at Unitec Polytechnic- New Zealand. His total education career experience is 14 years. He also worked for 13 years in the industry with several automotive and plant equipment dealerships, including Alghanim Industries-Kuwait, Jumaa Al Majid Group- UAE and Behbehani Motor Group- Kuwait for roles ranged from service engineer to marketing and operations management.

Ayman is currently studying towards a PHD in Engineering Management at University of Sharjah-UAE. He holds an MBA degree from Massey University-New Zealand and a master degree in mechanical engineering from Almustansiriya University- Iraq after he obtained his bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from University of Kuwait. He is a member of Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE).

His professional interests focus on renewable energy , sustainable transport, green and cost-effective  supply chain , energy co-generation including kinetic energy electric and hydrostatic regenerative systems for vehicles and stationary applications. He recently supervised projects including improving energy efficiency of public transport vehicles by integration of solar PV systems to power on-board electrical ancillary systems . Another innovative project supervised was the smart sustainable street lighting system to reduce load demands on the national UAE power grid. At the moment he supervises a student project to build a small scale electric hybrid vehicle and to race it in GCC Hybrid Challange in Nov 2017 at Abu Dhabi. Also he co-supervises a project team to develop a sustainable smart house for DEWA Solar Decathlon 2018 competition in partnership with University of Sharjah.

Mousa S. Mohsen

Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Dean of School of Engineering , American University of Ras Al Khaimah

Mousa S. Mohsen is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, currently he is the Dean of School of Engineering at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, where he obtained his PhD in mechanical engineering from Wayne State University, Michigan, USA in 1991, and MS and BS degrees from State University of New York at Buffalo in 1983 and 1982, respectively. He was involved in many administrative positions; the Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, Vice Dean of Engineering, Chairman of Mechanical Engineering Department. His research interests are energy systems, renewable energy, water treatment and desalination, integration of energy and water systems, environment and decision making. In his research, Prof. Mohsen focuses on both the theoretical aspects and practical issues of the problems and he is interested in participating in interdisciplinary projects. His published work exceeds sixty journal papers, and he was an invited speaker in different international conferences and workshops. Prof. Mohsen was involved in curriculum development for a number of undergraduate and graduate programs. Prof. Mohsen managed and coordinated several research projects that are funded by regional and international agencies such as European Commission, Middle Desalination Research Center and NATO science for peace program. Prof. Mohsen is the Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Sustainable Water and Environmental System and Jordan Journal of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and he is an associate editor for other international Journals. In 2009 he was awarded the National Research Leader Award by Elsevier Scopus. He is on the directors board of the International Association of Sharing Knowledge and Sustainability, Canada and on the Scientific board of the Sharing Knowledge Foundation, Geneva. He is a member of the International Scientific Committee of many International conferences.

Joachim Bergerhoff

International Transportation Expert,

In the early 1990s, Joachim promoted cycling-as-mode-of-transport in Brussels, while also working on car sharing and hybrid buses for the European Union energy conservation program.

He gained board knowledge of public transport working for UITP, and for the public transport agencies of Geneva and Brussels. He brought Brussels into the Eliptic project on electrification of urban transport (ongoing). He also served as Deputy Head of Staff of the Minister of Transport and Energy in Wallonia (Belgium).

Joachim spent 5 years with UN-HABITAT in Kosovo, and has developed a keen interest in the transport sector in emerging countries, which are cradles of innovation and theatres of urban struggles of global importance. Currently, he is finishing an assignment as Transportation Expert at RTA Dubai, where he has worked on soft mobility and on innovation in public transport, including self-driving and electric transport.

Dr. Noman Fazal Qadir

Environment & Sustainability Expert / specialist ,

Dr. Noman Fazal Qadir is a visionary and globally recognized Environmental (HSE) and Sustainability Development expert with rich experience in Environment, Climate Change, Sustainable Development (SD), Green and CSER. His career history is studded with exposure gained from reputed international organizations, e.g. UNIDO, UNDP, UNEP, UNESCAP, ADB, The World Bank, CAI-A, JBIC, JICA, JETRO, LEAD, IUCN, SAARC Human Resource Development Centre, SASP, Nakheel, Trakees, MMRTC, HLG etc at international and regional levels. Dr. Noman’s expertise lies in advising governments and industries on various EHS issues with proven ability in handling green projects, infrastructure, solid waste management projects, renewable energy, energy efficiency projects, on time and within budget while maximizing the integration of technology.

Faisal Ali Hassan Rashid is the Director of Demand Side Management, Supreme Council of Energy. Faisal is looking after the whole energy demand management spectrum of emirate of Dubai.  He served previously in oil and gas industry for many years as Project Division Manager / Project Manager, handling mega feed and EPC projects. I served as general manager in glass manufacturing company as well. He holds a Bachelor’s degree holder of Bachelor’s degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Dayton, Ohio university, U.S.A 1991. Also, a certified PMP (Project Management Professional). Has a wide and solid experience in energy management including supply, strategy and demand. Has strong background in process industrial plant including oil & gas, power& water generation process, material handling process, glass manufacturing process, renewable technology etc. 

Samer Alawiye

Nabeel Al Zaka

Nabeel Alzaka is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at SurfaceMobility Consultants. Prior to that, he was the Managing Director of UAE Operations for Transpo Group.  He is an International expert in ITS, specialising in process development to drive innovation and best practice. His professional focus is in emerging technologies (such as connected and autonomous vehicles) and SMART City solutions. Previously, Nabeel was the Vice President of Transpo Group’s ITS practice in the US and has held leadership positions in both private firms and public agencies in the UK and Middle East.
